Powerstar Empangeni shines at Zululand & Amitikulu Sugar Fest Expo
In the heart of Empangeni two of South Africa’s dedicated motor and agricultural expos - the Zululand Motor Show and the Amatikulu Sugar Fest -held annually over four days recently took place in June and July 2017.
This year’s shows attracted hundreds of exhibitors and close on 20 000 visitors from across southern Africa. Powerstar Empangeni showcased its products at these exhibitions in the past two years. “We attracted over 300 visitors to our stand at the show,” says Powerstar Empangeni owner, Jay Reddy.
“The beauty of these shows are that they attract key decision-makers in the logistics, construction and agricultural community. The quality of visitors to the Powerstar exhibit stand this year was excellent. We gathered dozens of solid leads for various Powerstar, Powerland and Shantui brands. For this year’s Sugar Fest Expo we partnered with Roadhog Trailers who supplied the bodies on our trucks” says Reddy.
Our trucks at the Zululand Motor Show and Amitikulu Sugar Fest included the Flagship Powerstar VX 2628 SWB and LWB with a water tanker and cattle body, the Powerstar VX 2642 6x4 Truck Tractor and Powerland F3T 3042 Truck Tractor. The Powerstar and Powerland 6x4 truck tractors are both suitable for long-haul agri-freight haulage and come with all the service support credentials that have made the Powerstar and Powerland credible brands in the trucking industry.
“The show serves as an ideal shop window for our trucks", enthuses Reddy. “All our models offer the Weichai Euro 2 intercooled technology and are built for tough on/off-road farming applications, like grain and livestock transport. Ground clearance, torque, payload potential and fuel economy are top-of-mind for farmers and the Powerstar trucks are class leaders in these areas.”
Our flagship Powerstar VX 2628 has earned an enviable reputation in South Africa as a no-nonsense, electronic free, economical long wheelbase (rigid) livestock carrier, powered by a Euro 2, 6-litre, 6-cylinder Weichei engine with intercooler. The engine generates 213/2200kW of power and 1160Nm of torque between 1200-1600 rpm. A smooth synchromesh 12-speed Fast Gear manual transmission makes it ideal for on/off-road applications, assisted by steel suspension, S-cam drum brakes all round and an exhaust valve brake.
“The issues of service support and dealer back-up will always play a major role in the purchase of a truck and the farmers visiting our stand certainly expressed their requirements in this regard. The class-leading 3years/300 000km warranty, service intervals and 24/7 roadside assist for both Powerstar and Powerland models raised many an eyebrow as did the fact that we have 31 dedicated Powerstar dealerships and service centres around southern Africa and Sub-saharan Africa. All told, both the Zululand Motor Show and Amatikulu Sugar Fest expos were a great success for Powerstar Empangeni. The keen interest and brand exposure we received will definitely see us back as exhibitors next year,” concludes Reddy.
