Powerstar Empangeni donates benches to local school

Thank you Powerstar Empangeni! Powerstar Empangeni recently donated eight moulded benches to Thuthukani School in their local area in Empangeni.

Thuthukani Special School is for children with intellectual disability aged 6 to 18 years. The school's current enrolment is 390 learners and is based on a sugarcane farm just outside of Empangeni. Learners from Empangeni, Richards Bay, eNseleni, Kwa-Monambi, eSikhaweni, Ngwelezana and other rural areas attend the school.

The learners are intellectually disabled and come from multicultural, multi-language backgrounds and often have more than one disability. The main aim of the school is to ensure that the learners leave the school as independent as possible and to equip them with good self-esteem and skills to contribute to their communities.

On the right Sharon Govindasamy from Powerstar Empangeni hands over the benches to Debbie Buick, Thuthukani School Financial Secretary.

Powerstar Empangeni’s donation of the benches to the school, will be used for outdoor learning and teaching as well as a seated waiting area for the buses in the afternoon.

All smiles from the learners of Thuthukani School.
