Powerstar, along with The Blake Group, have sponsored and supported Voice of Pietermaritzburg Angels (VoPA) throughout the year. This non-profit organisation assists those in need and collects clothes, household items, schoolbags, school books, shoes in good condition and canned food to assist impoverished households.
Michelle Stevens, head of operations and marketing, said the initiative first began on Facebook as a group collecting soap and face clothes to hand to people who would be getting nothing for Christmas and we grew from there. “We are a newly registered NPO. This is our third year running. We initially started in November 2017 with the Facebook group and Pick ‘n Pay, Victoria Road came on board and allowed us to hold a food drive,” said Stevens.
Powerstar were only too happy to contribute to this worthy cause.
